This policy explains how the Optiwing SEO Tools browser extension (the "Extension") handles your data. The Extension is published by Optiwing ("us", "we") as a companion to your Optiwing account at app.optiwing.com. Our main Privacy Policy also applies.
The Extension sends data only when you take an action, such as clicking "Check SERP", "Compare", or "Group", or choosing "Check SERP with Optiwing" from the right-click menu.
| Data | When | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Optiwing session cookie | When the side panel opens | app.optiwing.com | Exchanged for a short-lived access token, so you stay signed in with your existing Optiwing account. |
| Access token (includes your account email) | After sign-in | Your browser's session storage, cleared when the browser closes | Authenticates your requests to the Optiwing API. Your email is shown in the side panel. |
| Keywords you type, paste, or highlight and send | When you run a SERP check, similarity comparison, or grouping job | Optiwing API (optiwingbackend-production.up.railway.app) | To fetch search results and build keyword groups. Each request uses your Optiwing credits. |
| Search settings (country, language, device, search engine) | When you change them | chrome.storage.sync in your browser | So your choices persist. If Chrome Sync is on, Google syncs them between your browsers. |
| ID of your current grouping job | When you start a grouping job | chrome.storage.local in your browser | So an unfinished job can resume after you close the panel. |
To retrieve search results, the Optiwing API sends your keywords to our search-data provider, DataForSEO. We process this data as described in our main Privacy Policy.
Optiwing's use of information received from the Extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
